In Rovinj, Croatia, on 9th April 2019 a workshop entitled “Indicators of Sustainable Tourism in Coastal Tourist Destinations and the Green Beach Model” within the project MITOMED+ Integrated Tourism Model on the Mediterranean Plus was organized
Head of Administrative Department for Tourism of Istrian County, Nada Prodan Mraković, presented the realized activities within the Regional Planning Program and Management of Seaside Beaches in the Istria County and pointed out the importance of further managing beaches in a sustainable way. At the workshop, representatives of the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism presented the socio-economic and environmental indicators of sustainable tourism, the online platform for indicators of sustainable tourism and the Green Beach Model. Representatives of the destinations involved in the project MITOMED+ presented to the participants of the workshop their experience of the implementation of activities. Damir Hrvatin presented experiences in the City of Poreč, Vanja Gorički in the City of Novigrad and Robert Mohorović in the City of Labin/Rabac. The workshop was attended by 20 participants, including representatives of local and regional government, the Ministry of Tourism, Tourist Boards and other stakeholders interested in sustainable tourism topics. The aim of the workshop was to present the tools created within the MITOMED+ project to local and regional stakeholders and other stakeholders who manage tourist resources in coastal areas for the future management of coastal areas in a sustainable way and encourage them to join the activity of MITOMED+ project.
