Sant Antoni de Calonge belongs to the town of Calonge, located 40km from the main provincial town of Girona, in the centre of the Costa Brava and beside the Gavarres Massif. Thanks to its geographical location and the convergence of the sea and the mountain, the town offers a valuable landscape richness characterized by the strong contrast between the plane inland and the steep relief. Sant Antoni de Calonge was the fishermen’s quarter of Calonge, the main urban centre and is today an important tourist destination for families. Nowadays, it counts with four beaches: Cala Cristus – Ses Torretes, Torre Valentina, Sant Antoni and Es Monestri. Cala Cristus – Ses Torretes is a natural beach with large areas formed by rocks and vegetation in the midst of an area with low urbanistic intervention. The rest of the coastal part of Sant Antoni is characterized by large sandy areas by a promenade that unites them to the urban centre. All these beaches count with the Blue Flag and certified in EMAS and ISO 14001. The beach that will be audited for the Green Beach model is Sant Antoni, which is located within the Palamós bay and its swimming area is protected by five breakwaters, three parallel and two perpendicular to the line coast. Sant Antoni is an urban beach and numerous services and activities are offered during the summer season. Nowadays, the beach is certified by EMAS and it also has the Blue Flag.

Torredembarra is located in the southern part of the Catalan coast, 20 km from the provincial town of Tarragona and 80 km from Barcelona. With 15.726 inhabitants as of 2017, it is one of the main coastal municipalities that form the Costa Daurada, a recognized tourist brand with high international standing. Torredembarra has grown through new urban sprawl developments characterized by low density urbanizations that resulted from a residential tourism boom during the sixties and seventies. The town has four beaches: Paella, Baix a Mar, Muntanyans and Canyadell, all certified by ISO 14001 and EMAS. Moreover, the first three beaches have obtained the Blue Flag and the last one the "Platja Verge" (Virgin beach) award. The candidate beach for the Green Beach certification is Muntanyans beach, which is characterized by its natural surroundings. This is a protected beach within the Natural Interest Areas regional Plan, as it entails one of the most important dune and marine ecosystem areas in Catalonia. Close to one of the access points, the Centre of Environmental Activities offers a wide variety of guided visits through the beach. Muntanyans beach has nowadays numerous certifications and awards such as EMAS, ISO 14001, Blue Flag and “Platja Verge”

Lloret de Mar is one of the most consolidated tourist destination in the Catalan coastal area. It’s located in the southern part of the Costa Brava region, 40 km from the main provincial city of Girona. According to official data and with nearly 40.000 inhabitants, more than 1.5 million tourist come every year to Lloret de Mar. The town counts with a wide range of hotel accommodation offer, numerous tourist attractions and a valuable natural and cultural heritage such as the Santa Clotilde Gardens, the Puig de Castellet Iberian village or the Castle of Sant Joan. Lloret de Mar has 5 main beaches: Lloret, Fenals, Sa Boadella, Santa Cristina and Canyelles. The beach to be awarded with the Green Beach label is Fenals. With more than 700 meters length, this beach is located in a bay protected by a massif that separates it from the main urban centre. It’s surrounded by little and rocky hills, as the Costa Brava is characterized. The city council offers there a huge amount of recreational services during the summer season that allows visitors to enjoy the precious Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful maritime and coastal landscapes of the Costa Brava region.
